muiy (10 out of 10 ) Johnny Depp is great in this movie!
GDFace (8 out of 10 ) A noir story wrapped in a silly plot about devil-raising, or "Chinatown meets Rosemary's Baby" as Polanski himself described it. The noir-ish elements are more or less played for laughs, though the script (and the film) doesn't quite commit to being a comedy. Instead, it exists in limbo between cheesy horror and classic detective story. All that being said, it's entertaining and intriguing enough to warrant a read.
Script: 8/10 | Movie: 6/10 (knocked down by bad CG, bad makeup, and so-so performances from everyone except for Depp and a few minor players)
